Motherboard (Art Mural)
Commissioned by GR.iD and created in collaboration with students from LASALLE College of the Arts, NAFA, SOTA, NTU, and the arts collective Asylum Drift, Motherboard is a monumental indoor mural that stands as a symbol of creative connectivity.
Spanning seven storeys and taking over 750 man-hours to complete, this expansive piece positions the heart—both human and metaphorical—as the core of GR.iD’s vibrant ecosystem.
Singapore’s Largest Indoor Art Mural
750 hours. 7 painters. 7 storeys high.
Project Timeline: December 2019 – July 2021
Lead Artist: Benedict Yu
Mural Team: BODHI, Isabel Lim, Jessica Goh, Joanna Lim, Sarah Noorhimli, Thng Ai Wei
Inspired by the structure and purpose of a computer’s motherboard, the mural captures the essence of GR.iD as a hub of innovation and collaboration. Just as a motherboard carries and distributes information, enabling countless interactions between components, this artwork represents the flow of ideas, cultures, and conversations that animate Singapore’s creative community.
Gradients collide, languages intersect, and perspectives blend into a living canvas that celebrates diversity, exchange, and expression. Motherboard invites its viewers to reflect on how each individual thread of thought contributes to a larger, dynamic narrative—both within GR.iD and across the broader Singaporean landscape.
This mural is more than a visual landmark—it’s a conversation starter, a cultural map, and a tribute to the creative heartbeat of a city.
